Worst TV ever! Jul 17, 2010 purchased a 47" Philips LCD TV (Model: 47PFL3603D/27) for 22 months (Sept. 2008). From Feb. 2010, the TV picture turned to black occasionally, so we had to turn the TV off and on to get the picture back. The horrible happed yesterday, my wife left the living room after she turned on the TV, when she returned to the living room few minutes later, she saw smoke coming out of TV and found the TV burned deadly. Today I called Philips, the customer representative told me that I have no choice except for buying a new one or bringing it to repair center at my cost, they have no responsibility if there is not the damage to my house. That was our terrible experience about Philips TV, which was the only one Philips TV we ever have.

Great t.v. but... Apr 22, 2009 I bought this t.v. from Wal-mart 3 months ago. It looks awesome. The HD channels look good. PS3 with the HDMI cable is amazing on this t.v. Here's the "but" I came home after one weekend and the t.v. turned on but had no picture. I thought maybe a cable problem but it wasn't. The picture would cut in and out at random. Sometimes it would take 5, even 20 minutes for the picture to show up. The crazy thing about the whole thing was the t.v. had sound but no picture. (Look up this problem and you'll see it's a growing problem among LCD T.V.'s) It became very annoying, so I carried it back. And to no surprise to me, the customer service desk had one behind it the day I carried mine back. Plus they questioned my date of purchase because the t.v. showed up as a discontinued item. But it was brand new 3 months ago? Wal-mart selling older models as new models for cheaper prices? Maybe so. But I got my money back after 2 hours of arguing, literally. The t.v. is great, when it actually decides to work. Be sure to check out what you are buying before dropping down some money.

Bill P. Apr 13, 2009 This is a great TV. I have read other reviews about poor speaker sound, but this TV has great speakers and sound levels are great coming from these speakers. No need to connect to other sound systems. The picture is great in HD plus non HD shows are very good. The price for this Philips 47" LCD is much lower than other 47" models that don't give you as good a picture. We have had this model for over a month with no problems.

Great quality at great price Mar 25, 2009 My husband and I have been looking for several months for a larger tv to replace our very good Samsung 32" 1080i LCD. At last we've found it! The picture is awesome, the screen has a thicker glare shield than the other tv's we've looked at. Giving the picture great color and depth.
After comparing this unit right next to a Sony and Sharp, that cost more we were hooked. I did take the time to do some homework and found that this unit was given 4 or 5 stars across the board on many ratings sites as well.
Our tv has 4 hdmi ports as well, you really can never have to many ports we've found. We also play our Xbox on the tv and it looks great. The sound is excellent!

Awsome TV Feb 03, 2009 When I was looking at TVs in the store, this one looked just as good as, if not better than, the other TVs. The only big difference was the price. Other TVs in this price range simply didn't compare while this TV compared to TVs which cost $500-$800 more. I am not a TV expert, I only base my judgment on how the picture looked, but what else do you need? Who cares if the other TV has a 'phase shift converter' or operates at 4 million jiggawhatchyamacallits. And I really don't care if my TV can't make me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. What matters to me is that it looks amazing and is very reasonably priced.

Consumer Reports Says: Buy HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (July 2010) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2009 and June 2010. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its July 2010 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com came closest.
