A great multipurpose player Sep 04, 2010 With a week of usage, these are my impressions (subject to change)
- Super light
- Sleek
- Very fast uploads
- Good 3D performance (not great, but decent)
- Works well with 3d glasses
- Widgets are decent
- hooking up the wireless connection was relatively painless
- Anynet function with samsung tv is a very good feature
- For best picture give the HDMI 1.4 connection to the TV...otherwise pixelation issues may happen (ie when sending it through receiver)
- fitting the picture to avoid the black bars is a great feature: also it moves the subtitles in a way that it does not cut it off, a subtelty, but another great feature.
Be sure to enable Bitstream downstream audio to get Dolby Digital sound
Internet@TV options and variety is quite good
WiFi performance very good, but requires a Wireless -N connection, as G will drop videos
Absence of a QWERTY key board or blue-tooth stinks
Overall, if you can get it for $150-170 range, its a very good deal.
Works very well. Sep 02, 2010 I use this player with the 46C8000 3D Samsung. A VERY good combination. Had no trouble linking through a wireless router for internet NetFlix, YouTube etc. FiOS at 20 mbps. A screamer.
Don't forget the HDMI 1.4 cables. Why load BB's into an elephant gun?
Perfect service from Amazon.
Samsung Blue Ray 3D Player Aug 30, 2010 So easy to hook-up and use plus great performance. And Amazon did a great job on shipping and customer care, as usual.....Jerry
Love it! Aug 27, 2010 It was ready to go out of the box, setting up the wireless was a breeze, it took a little bit to upload latest software, but I have been a netflix watching fool since I got it...Now I'm just waiting for HULU Plus.

Wireless and Netflix Fail Aug 26, 2010 I received this Samsung BD player this free with a Samsung plasma. This device for some reason doesn't get near the wireless bandwidth as other devices and thus fails to stream Netflix properly. I have a wireless G network and my laptop streams Netflix movies fine sitting right next to the Samsung BD However, this Samsung BD player rebuffers Netflix movies every 10 seconds making the Netflix functionality worthless.
Yes, the basic 3D (on the 1 3D BD movie that I can access) and blu-ray playing work, but the reason this player is so expensive is the built-in wireless and internet functionality. Don't make users pay $200 more for features that DO NOT work.

Consumer Reports Says: Buy HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (July 2010) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2009 and June 2010. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its July 2010 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com came closest.
